Bob’s presentations on integrating Theory of Constraints, Lean and Six Sigma are available for download here: http://focusandleverage.blogspot.com/

Presentation 1:  The Importance of Knowing Where to Hammer

This presentation will be a discussion of systems and interconnectedness, the shortcomings of local improvement or improving in isolation from a business context.  The unintended consequences of local improvement and their organizational impact will be discussed.  Step 1 in any meaningful improvement initiative must be to understand the organizational context, the system in which we operate.  The importance of knowing where to hammer……the reality that every system has a weakest link that must be identified, exploited and leveraged is demonstrated through a series of graphic images.

Presentation 2:  Aviation Maintenance Case Study

This presentation is based upon a very successful improvement initiative using some common and not so common improvement tools.  Tools presented include the Intermediate Objectives Map to develop the improvement strategy;  the Interference Diagram to identify and quantify repair time lost; and Multiple Drum Buffer Rope (MDBR) to schedule and synchronize the work.  This presentation demonstrates the degree of improvement that can happen in a relatively short amount of time when Lean and Six Sigma are integrated with the Theory of Constraints.  Coded results of this initiative will be presented.
